As I mentioned previously, one of my goals this year is to read more Historical Fiction. I've read a few amazing books so far and The Runaway Daughter was just as great as the ones I've read so far. I loved this book! I spent the entire time reading it wanting to know what would happen next. I admired Anna/Verity's courage and determination throughout the story. The author's writing style was spot on. The reader can definitely feel what living in London in the 1920's was like. Everything is starting to change, people are pushing boundaries, woman are dressed in shorter dresses and cutting their hair short. The reader gets to experience everything through the characters and the story. I will be keeping an eye out for the second book in this trilogy as I want to know more of what will happen. A great captivating historical read that will have you reading past your bedtime I'm sure! My rating:  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you to PGC Books for my gifted...
There's no doubt I love a good domestic thriller and this one sure did not disappoint! It had me turning pages from the very start and I had a tough time putting it down. I wasn't entirely sure what was going on and I was suspicious about all the characters at one point or another.  There was also so much suspense in this novel and the chapters where the reader doesn't know who the narrator is were the best! The dark atmosphere and all the twists in the story were all perfectly written and will surely leave you breathless as you try and turn the pages as fast as you can so you know how the story unfolds. I don't want to say too much but if you're a fan of thrillers, this one will definitely be a favorite! This title is available now! Thank you to HBG Canada for my gifted copy. My rating:  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Here's a quick synopsis : Local police have announced that they're closing the investigation of the suspected drowning of 37-year-old p...
I've always been a fan of History but not always of Historical Fiction novels. This year, I've decided to add HF to my TBR and one of the books I was dying to read was Dragonfly. Thank you to HBG Canada for my gifted copy. Dragonfly is a wonderful WWII story that left me with all the feels. I was a little scared going into it because of it's voluminous pages, but I absolutely loved the author's writing style and she really created a mesmerizing story. I loved the multiple POVs used in Dragonfly because it gave the reader time to get to know the characters and at the same time we got a sense of the bigger picture. Another thing I enjoyed was the background diversity of the members of Dragonfly. The moments between the individuals were jovial but it didn't take away from the seriousness of the story. The author did a phenomenal job at making me see and feel the intensity that was WWII. You could clearly feel the emotions the characters were feeling. ...
How to Hack a Heartbreak by Kristin Rockway was an interesting read about smart women, romance and internet dating in all it's glory. It was a well needed break in my usual thrillers. I loved that I could sit back and relax while enjoying the story.  If Mel's experiences with online dating is what trully happens in real life, I'm glad I don't have to live in that world! Even if I have zero experience in online dating, I really loved the story and how pertinent it is to people's way of dating nowadays. Mel's character was intertaining and it clearly showed women can be just as successful as men in the computer world. The way she decided to retaliate against all the jerks on the dating sites was brilliant. I also enjoyed the romance between Mel and Alex but thought it could have been just a little bit more. How to Hack a Heartbreak is a fun romance and a perfect beach read. I highly recommend this one! Thank you to Harper Collins Canada for...
I was hooked from the very start! Alex wakes up tied to an operating table when she re-awakens no one believes her story. Someone is torturing Alex... Great opening scene! This story was definitely a page-turner! I could relate to Alex and had lots of sympathy for her, I kept thinking WHY does no one believe her!! Alex is a doctor herself and because she is spewing nonsense, according to the people around her, she is losing everything she worked so hard.  The ending was unpredictable, I was utterly surprised and loved the action-packed ending! Overall great setting, great creative story, and great writing! What an amazing debut novel from Liz Lawler. Thank you to Harper Collins for providing me with an ARC of this book. As usual, my reviews are my honest and unbiased opinions. Synopsis Alex Taylor wakes up tied to an operating table. The man who stands over her isn't a doctor. The offer he makes her is utterly unspeakable. But when Alex re-awakens, s...
I'm very excited to share my review for Lisa Regan' new novel, Her Silent Cry (Josie Quinn Book 6). Thank you to Bookouture for the Blog Tour invite and the eARC. Thank you to Amazon Publishing and Lake Union Publishing for my gifted copy of Last Summer  by Kerry Lonsdale. This title is out now! This was my first read by Kerry Lonsdale and I can assure you it will not be the last! What a ride! I dived into this novel without knowing much about the synopsis and although there were parts where I wanted to scream at the main character to force the answers she wanted out of the two men in her life, I loved that it created an element of mystery. I was also obsessed with figuring out the storyline and the way it all came together was mind-blowing. Like I said, some of the characters' actions were questionnable sometimes but when all the facts and events are laid out in front of you, it all makes sense. This was simply an incredible story with equal parts of mystery and romance. Following her accident, Ella wakes up with no recollection of being pregnant and no memories of her unborn son, Simon. Her search for answers is heartbreaki...
