Book #4 |  Seven Girls Gone | Allison Brennan |  MIRA  |  Pub : April 25, 2023 |  Pages : 352 Book #4 in the Quinn & Costa Series . Let’s just say I love this series so much that I read Books 2 to 4 in a week! Now I’m sad I’m going to have to wait a year to read Book #5 I recently got tired of reading police procedurals, but this one is so different than what I’m used it, I just love this series so much! Allison is so good at weaving multiple storylines together seamlessly while keeping suspense and tension in the story. She also has a knack for writing lovable characters! In this one, I fell in love with Beau and his grandmother, and St. Augustine (minus the bad parts) but Allison really painted the town as a quiet charming bayou town. Another part that had me falling in love with this series is the dynamic of the crew on the Mobile Response Team. They work so well together and are starting to build a little family. I love that dynamic. Also, let’s not forget the steamy dynamic...
Book #3 |  The Wrong Victim | Allison Brennan |  MIRA   |  Pub : April 26, 2022 |  Pages : 453 Book #3 in the Quinn & Costa Series . Quinn & Costa are back! I jumped right into this book after reading Tell No Lies . You can read them as standalones, but I recommend reading them in order if possible. You might get some tiny spoilers if you don’t. I love that since they are a part of the Mobile Response Team, the team can travel anywhere in the US. Therefore, each book provides a different background. In this one, the team goes to the San Juan Islands, near Washington, due to a bombing killing 9 people. I really loved the setting of this story; Allison did a great job at depicting the town as a quaint and charming little tourist town. As previously mentioned, I was living for the romantic tension between Kara and Matt, we got a bit of relationship development in Tell No Lies but in this one, it gets explored further, and someone might be putting their relationship in ...
Book #2 |  Tell No Lie | Allison Brennan |  MIRA  |  Pub : March 30, 2021 |  Pages : 425 Book #2 in the Quinn & Costa Series . I read Book #1 in 2020 and was pleasantly surprised! I sort of forgot about this series until I saw that the new book Seven Girls Gone will be coming out on April 25 th and knew I had to catch up with this series. I was initially convinced I was going to hate it since the story seemed to revolve around an activist seeking out whether a water source was contaminated in the desert, but as the story evolved, I couldn’t put the book down. There were so many storylines woven together, and I had no clue where the story was going. This kept the suspense up from start to finish. In this one, we get a bit of development with Kara and Matt’s relationship, and I’m here for it! I adore Romantic Suspense novels, so this was right up my alley. I can’t wait to see where it goes. If you love a story with many twists and turns, this series is for you! Highly ...
From Lukov With Love | Mariana Zapata |  Pub : Ferbuary 1, 2018 |  Pages : 304 I love reading romances as an audiobook and this one got me even more hooked. I now have to read all of Mariana Zapata’s books! There are a couple reasons why this isn’t a 5-star for me, firstly, not enough spiciness for my taste. Don’t get me wrong, it was cute and a good story, but I would have wanted more spice! The other reason is I felt I was missing a bit of backstory. However, there was such great character development and I absolutely loved the relationship between Jasmine and Ivan! It was so realistic and pure. I can't wait to start reading another Mariana Zapata novel because the writing was excellent! I can recall every scenario in the novel with such clarity and detail that I almost felt as though I were there with the characters. I loved the family dinners because they made us feel like we were dining with them and even a part of their family. I don't know, I just really, really loved ...
The Maid | Nita Prose | Ballantine Books |  Pub : January 4, 2022 |  Pages : 304 I was pleasantly surprised I loved this one! I initially picked it up because it was winning so many awards, but it had an “old-timey” vibe to it, that I usually don’t love but for some reason, it really worked in this novel. Molly Gray was such a peculiar character! She is one of the most distinctive, enjoyable, and endearing fictional characters I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know! She definitely made me root for her. Molly works as a maid for the Regency Grand Hotel. As Molly was cleaning Mr. Black's room, she assumed he was dozing off. However, she noticed a medication container had fallen off the bedside table, and blue pills had spilled out onto the table, the floor, and the carpet, where they had been crushed. When she tries to rouse Mr. Black, she discovers that he has passed away. She calls the front desk, introduces herself, and says she works in housekeeping. She asks the pe...
The Last Resort | Marissa Stapley | Graydon House | Pub : June 18, 2019 | Pages : 368 The Last Resort can be your last option for saving your marriage. That is if you believe what power couple Drs. Miles and Grace Markell appear to be. In this book, some couples come to this lush retreat hoping to get back together, some merely tag along, and some have secrets to keep. A perfect mix of visitors makes for engaging group therapy sessions and the implementation of new treatment modalities. Most people don't anticipate that if required, they could have to live apart from their spouses in different cottages. Leave your phones, medications, and problems at home. Sign on the dotted line to begin the treatment plan that has been specifically designed for you. The doctors are competent, or perhaps I should say that one of them has ulterior reasons. This book is interestingly twisted and horrible, and it makes you feel uneasy. Viewers who are sensitive to verbal or physical abuse should b...
The Paris Apartment | Lucy Foley |  William Morrow   | Pub : February 22, 2022 | Pages : 360 I’m a big fan of Lucy Foley! I find her the queen of writing atmospheric stories, and you all know I love a good atmospheric thriller!  This mystery is set in an elegant apartment complex in Paris. However, the building has a history… Ben, Jess's stepbrother, is the reason she travels to Paris. Ben promised her he would be there when she arrived, but when Jess arrives, Ben isn’t there and left a note. The other locals are acting a little shady. The chapters simply fly by as they are told from a variety of POVs and are quite short (extra bonus points for short chapters!). The story got me from the very first chapter and I couldn’t stop reading. I was engrossed and delighted with the outcome. You can anticipate some plot twists and an unpredictable ending!  Synopsis Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-bro...
What the Neighbors Saw | Melissa Adelman | Minotaur Books | Pub : June 13, 2023 | Pages : 304 I was sold the minute I read this was a cross between desperate housewives and The Couple Next Door. I believe this Melissa Adelman’s debut novel, and I must say, it’s pretty good for a first novel! This was beautifully written and kept me entertained all the way through. The story begins when a young, affluent couple chooses to invest in a fixer-upper in an elite neighbourhood. Sam hopes to become a partner in his law practice as Alexis prepares to give birth to their second child. Despite the problems with the house and their financial burden, Sam and Alexis simply know that this is their ideal forever home. Everything seems to be going great, until their next-door neighbour is murdered on the neighbourhood trail.  The narrative is told from different POVs, between Blair (the murderer man’s wife), and Alexis (the new neighbour). Beyond Teddy's passing, I didn't think much else hap...
The Revenge List | Hannah Mary McKinnon | MIRA  | Pub : May 23, 2023 | Pages : 368 You never know what you’re going to get with a Hannah Mary McKinnon book, and this one isn’t any different!  The plot was clever and original. Frankie, who is in her early 30s and works for her father's construction company, has been sent to an anger management program. Her primary motivation for joining the program was due to a “dispute” with a customer. Frankie maintains that he harassed her sexually as there was no witness, it became a classic "he said, she said" situation. Not even her own father seemed to believe her. He apologized immediately to their valued customer by sending his daughter to the program. Due to an exercise during Anger Management, she compiles a list of those she needs to forgive in order to move on, including her harassing client, the bully from high school, her college rival, a mysterious man named Adrian Costas who wrecked her life, her annoying neighbour, her ...
The Prisoner | B.A. Paris | St. Martin's Press | Pub : November 1, 2022 | Pages : 298 B.A.Paris consistently writes surprising and highly addictive books! I can easily say she’s one of my favorite authors. However, this one wasn’t my favourite of hers, but I still really enjoyed the story, and will still read everything B.A. Paris ever writes! I never read the summary of books and I suggest doing the same for The Prisoner as it’s challenging discussing this book without giving anything away. It’s such a crazy, outrageous ride with a chock full of surprises that I recommend going in blind. You’ll thank me later. If you've previously read books by this author, you know what to expect – the unexpected! I did get hooked in the first chapter, but the first half of the book moved at a relatively low pace. However, it did pick up quite a bit in the second half. B.A. Paris is a master at bringing in the suspense, I just wanted to keep reading to se what would happen next. This was s...
