A Version of the Truth | B.P. Walter | Avon Books UK | Pub : February 7, 2019 | Pages : 368 TW: Pedophilia, Physical abuse, Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, and Trafficking I thought this was going to be a typical mystery/thriller read due to the cover, but the cover was totally misleading and has absolutely no relation to the book (I think the cover might have changed now). I would consider this book as more general fiction with a tiny hint of a psychological thriller. I do admit that the writing was excellent! This book is told in different POVs and different timelines. At first, I was confused as to why I was reading the background character development of a random character, but it eventually made sense and I loved how those two storylines intertwined. Speaking of POVs, the story was mostly character development (especially Holly’s character) and contained not much action. I would consider this a medium-paced book. In addition, most of the characters were despicable, as th...
Stolen Things | R.H. Herron | Dutton Books | Pub : August 20, 2019 | Pages : 368 I listened to the audiobook version of this book, and I quite enjoyed it! The story is about Laurie, who works as a 911 dispatcher. One day, Laurie answered the 911 line and it’s Jojo, her daughter! She’s drugged, disoriented and doesn’t know where she is. Laurie will stop at nothing to find her daughter! This is a fast-paced story that will leave you at the edge of your seat! There are some gruesome scenes and many twists and turns along the way! I was immediately drawn to this story, and it left me guessing! I was 100% invested and wanted to know what would happen next! I would have given it a five-star rating if the ending hadn't been rushed and there had been a bit more closure, but I still recommend this book to anyone who likes a good thriller! Thank you to PENGUIN GROUP Dutton for providing me with an electronic ARC of this book via NetGalley. As usual, my reviews are my honest and ...

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, Samantha Hayes is really good at writing great domestic thrillers/mysteries. The Shadows | Alex North | Celadon Books |  Pub : July 7, 2020|  Pages : 336 I really wanted to love this book, but I was left disappointed. I ended up listening to the audiobook version of this book, and I do admit the production was pretty good! The narration mixed with the suspenseful music they included really made this book feel creepy. However, the plot of the story felt underwhelming. Maybe it’s because I was not interested in the lucid dreaming aspect of this book. I’m also not a huge supernatural, paranormal fan so that could also be why I didn’t enjoy this plotline. Also, maybe it’s due to the audiobook version, but I found myself confused by the dual timeline and the many characters. I was also disappointed at the ending; it was very rushed and I still had questions left to be answered. I do really want to read The Whisper Man , so I’m definitely willing to read other books from this author. This one just wasn’t for me. Thank you to Macmillan Audio for providing ...
The Stranger Inside | Lisa Unger | Park Row Books |  Pub : September 17, 2019|  Pages : 374 The only book I’ve read from Lisa Unger is Confessions on the 7:45 and I absolutely loved that book! This one was pretty good! I am definitely a Lisa Unger fan and will continue to pick up her books. Rain, who used to be a journalist, is now a stay-at-home mom. She misses her work deeply, so she is lured back into a case when a suspected killer is found dead. Is this the work of a vigilante killer?! To make matters even more complicated, the new murder is eerily similar to the murder of the man to which Rain had a personal connection. This leads Rain to become obsessed with the case. This was quite an addictive thriller! Bonus, I am a huge fan of revenge stories, so this one got me! It was dark, gripping, engrossing! Thank you to HARLEQUIN – Trade Publishing for providing me with an electronic ARC of this book via NetGalley. As usual, my reviews are my honest and unbiased opinions. Sy...
