Thank you to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt,  Mariner Books for my digital ARC of this book. Unfortunately, it did not make the cut for me. I usually love murder mysteries, but the story did not grab my attention and I struggled to keep going as I found it was too slow paced for me. What I did enjoy though, was the old-fashioned, gothic vibe.   The narration is split between multiple POVs, as well as “The Stranger”, which the reader gets to learn about throughout the book. I did enjoy the multiple POVs, although I wasn’t a big fan of the characters.   This one would be recommended if you like slow-burn mysteries that aren’t over the top.   Thank you to NetGalley and Mariner Books for my digital ARC in exchange for a review. As always, my reviews are my own and unbiased opinions.   Rating: 3 stars   Synopsis : Clare Cassidy is no stranger to murder. A high school English teacher specializing in the Gothic writer R. M. Holland, she teaches a course on it every year. B...
Just what you’d expect from Cat & Nat: funny and honest. This is a very quick and easy read. As a mom of 3 kids, I enjoyed reading this one as it really does show us that all moms struggle, but that all our kids want from us, is us. They don’t want the perfect mom, or the fit mom, or the Pinterest mom. I enjoyed how they shared the not so glamorous side of motherhood, because let’s face it, motherhood can be a sh*t show! I only wish I had read this book when my kids were younger, and it seemed like it would never get better. It might seem like you are doing everything wrong some days, and it’s nice to know that other moms are feeling the same way. Some days you will rock it, some days you will feel like a complete failure, and that’s okay.   This would make the perfect baby shower gift, or a gift for a new mom. We all need some humour during these hard stages of motherhood.   Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for my digital ARC in exchange for a revi...
Fern and Rose are twins. Will you be able to guess which one is the good sister? It seems like they have always looked out for each other, or Rose looks out for Fern. Rose is married and wants a baby, while Fern is happy to be a librarian. When Fern finds out that Rose is struggling to conceive, she decides she will have a baby for her twin sister. When Fern gets pregnant, things get interesting.   The story is told from Rose and Fern’s POV, as well as journal entries. They’ve always been there for each other, always looked out for each other. They are good sisters, but where do the boundaries lay?   Although this was a slow burn, I still enjoyed the story and wanted to know what would happen next. There were plot twists along the way to keep the reader interested and entertained. As we get to know the sisters, although twins, we learn that they have very different characters. This is a highly engaging family drama story that will keep you turning page after page until the ve...
