The Lies We Told by Camilla Way Review

What a thrill ride and a web of lies! This book is such a crazy emotional psychological thriller with so many surprising twists.

I got hooked on the first page when we are introduced to Hannah, a frightening and quite frankly very dangerous character!

The story goes back in forth between the past and present and I think this is the reason why this book is such a page-turner. You unfold layers of all the secrets and lies with every chapter, and you think you know where and the story is going…until it isn’t!

To top things off, the ending left you gasping! The best is when the book ends with a twist of its own! Big thumbs up for this one!

When Clara's boyfriend, Luke, disappears, everyone believes that he's left her, but Clara thinks she knows the truth. Recent evidence suggests that Luke had a stalker, and Clara worries that he's been kidnapped. Then Luke's older sister, Emily, who vanished twenty years ago, suddenly reappears.

Emily wants to help Clara with her search for Luke, but she refuses to talk about what happened--even though it nearly destroyed her family when she vanished. And the deeper Clara digs into Luke's mysterious disappearance, the more convinced she is that the two incidents are connected.

Wow! Prepare to be twisted into an intense psychological novel! This is the type of book that grabs your attention right from the start and doesn't let go. It's the type of book that has you guessing and when you think you have it all figured out, there comes the jaw-dropping twists and turns. Once you start reading, it's hard to stop. The reader is always left wanting more.

The plot is divided in two - with Clara's present-day POV and also Beth's POV retelling events from the past (Hannah's mother). I loved how the author went back and forth between the two storylines, giving the reader just a little bit more information on Luke's disappearance but also background information on Hannah and leaving you shocked and desperate for more. It's obvious that both storylines will eventually collide but how and when you just have to keep guessing! Well done!

The book comes together nicely and there's never a dull moment. A great page-turner that will not disappoint!

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
