Mistletoe & Mr. Right | Sarah Morgenthaler | Sourcebooks Casablanca | Pub: 10/6/20
“Well, what grand gesture could Rick
possibly make? Here, surrounded by them? We all feel like we aren’t enough.”
Did I read this book in 2 days? Yes. So that very clearly
means I enjoyed it. What I didn’t expect was to like it more than The Tourist
Attraction.
Lana works for her family’s company; she is rich and gorgeous
and according to family and friends, way out of Rick’s league. Rick is the
owner of the pool hall in Moose Springs. He is behind on rent, barely making
ends meet, taking care of his nephew and did I mention that Lana is his business’
‘landlord’? Does the entire town hate her besides her handful of friends? Yes. Does
anything mentioned stop the two from having a little Christmas fling?
I think I enjoyed this book more because we got a more in-depth
view of Rick’s and Lana’s pasts. So, we see why each side is so hesitant for
this fling to be a thing. This book also occurs around Christmas time, so we
get to see the more dangerous side of being in Alaska: bad snow and ice, danger
on lakes and dangerous moose. There is also some drama back in Lana’s hometown
that honestly made me cry.
It was refreshing to see badass businesswoman Lana’s walls cracking
a little bit. The strong can only be strong for so long before they break and
the issues in this book really pushed Lana to some limits.
But of course, my absolute favorite part was Jake, the blind
puppy dog. He was just as important this time around. Jake is also featured on
all 3 book covers. It brings my heart so much joy.
I preordered book 3, Enjoy the View (release date 1/19/21) and
I am really too impatient because I want it NOW.
If you read these, I hope you fall in love with Moose Springs
as much as I did. I really really enjoyed them both so far and I just never
want the adventures in Moose Springs to end.
