When a
Lisa Regan book comes out, I drop everything and start devouring the novel!
This one
was no exception! I started reading it the minute I was approved and read it in
only a couple days. When a child goes missing at the same time that Josie is in
the park with Harris, Josie being the amazing detective she is, gives it her
all to solve this disappearance.
Josie is
absolutely one of my all-time favorite characters, she’s so strong and cares so
much about her friends and family, even after everything she’s been through,
she became the most amazing person. Josie is not the only one I adore either,
I’ve come to really love all the main characters in these stories; Noah,
Gretchen, Trinity, Misty! I really feel like this series is underrated; I’ve
become quite obsessed with this series throughout the years!
The only
thing I was slightly bumped about was that there was less talk about Josie’s
relationship with Noah and her family. This book was more about solving the mystery of the missing child, which was highly unpredictable and a total
page-turner!
I just
really love the usual character development added throughout these books, but
it was also nice to see that everything was going good with Josie and she was
just focusing on finding the missing child.
Amazing
writing and storytelling as usual! So happy that the series keeps on going! I
am already impatiently waiting for the next book.
Thank
you to Bookouture for providing me with an electronic ARC of this book via
NetGalley. As usual, my reviews are my honest and unbiased opinions.
Round and round she goes, blonde pigtails flying, her
high-pitched giggle catching on the wind. But as the ride slows to a stop, her
seat is suddenly empty. Little Lucy is gone…
When seven-year-old Lucy Ross is snatched from the carousel in Denton city park, Detective Josie Quinn joins the frantic search. She’s the one who finds Lucy’s sparkly butterfly backpack abandoned by the ticket booth, a note with a devastating message stuffed inside: answer your phone, or your sweet little darling will die…
The next day, Lucy’s parents are filled with hope when they pick up a call which they think is from their babysitter – but instead it’s a chilling male voice on the line. Josie races to the babysitter’s small apartment only to find her lifeless body in a tangle of sheets on her bed.
Josie is faced with the most high-stakes case of her career as each new phone call from someone connected to the family ends with the shocking discovery of another body. This twisted killer wants revenge, and he won’t stop until the Ross family are in pieces…
Something is telling Josie that Lucy’s parents aren’t giving her the whole truth, but digging deeper into their lives will force her to confront a life-changing secret of her own. Does Josie have what it takes to crack this case? She has no choice if she’s going to bring Lucy home alive…
